Volunteers are a critical component to the Arts-Kids program as a desired 3 children to every 1 adult ratio is the goal in each after school group, as well as during the summer camps. Volunteers serve as positive role models, enriching the lives of the children served by the Arts-Kids program. Training is offered to those interested in volunteering and focuses on child development and communication techniques. Volunteers gain a better understanding of the expressive arts, develop stronger communication skills, and learn conflict resolution techniques, all while mentoring youth in a dynamic and fun atmosphere.

Arts-Kids Program Volunteers

Program Volunteers  may be any community member who enjoys working with children in a casual setting, serving as mentors for the children in the group. They also assist the guest artist as required for each session and are supportive of each child during his or her art process. No artistic ability is required, but volunteers must complete the required training. They need to commit at least 3 hours a week for 10 weeks either in the fall or the spring. (See the Spring 2008 Calendar of Activities) Call 615-7878 to volunteer for next fall's after-school program.

Arts-Camp Aides

Arts-Camp Aides commit for at least one week in July or August from 9am-1pm, 9am-4pm, or 1pm-5pm Monday through Friday to ensure consistency and quality for the 1 week long camps. Volunteers aid the artist for the day, help out during snack and lunchtime and serve as role models to the children. Volunteers provide structure and balance during each week of camp at the Park City Mountain Resort.

Arts-Kids Event Volunteers

Arts-Kids Event Volunteers can assist with a variety of community events throughout the year, including the annual fundraiser Paint the Town in March. Help is needed in preparation for the events as well as the actual day(s) of the events. For Paint the Town, volunteers can serve on planning committees prior to the event, or commit a couple of hours the day or evening of the event. Help ranges from decorating, ticket sales and silent auction management to art activity assistance and event set-up/take-down. Opportunities are available to fit any schedule or interest. Arts-Kids also participates in local community events during the year, such as Park City's Fourth of July Celebration--parade and park activities. Call 435-615-7878 for information.

Arts-Kids has volunteer opportunities for the after-school program during the school year, for summer camp in July and August, and for events throughout the year. Volunteer jobs range from helping the artists and  children with the art projects, and assisting the facilitators during the group sessions. Summer camp volunteers have similar responsibilities but for one of the week-long sessions. Event volunteers have specific assignments for one of the many events held either by or for Arts-Kids.
